I am able to install the ASDM launcher on the local machine, however, if I try to use it to access the ASA I am prompt for username and password (which I haven't configured yet), no matter what I use as username and password (I tried with blank, cisco-cisco, Cisco-Cisco, cisco-Cisco) I always receive the message that "Unable to launch device manager from 192.168.1.1. If i try "Run ASDM" or "Run Startup wizard" i receive the message: Internet Explorer cannot download asdm.jnlp (or startup.jnlp) from 192.168.1.1 Then I tried from an old Windows XP with IE 8, in this case I can open the initial page where I am given the choice to Install ASDM launcher, Run ASDM or Run startup wizard. The device is new and carries the default factory-configuration.įirst i tried ASDM from a Windows 7 workstation with different browsers (IE Firefox and Chrome) but all of them reported an unsecure connection and refused to connect. ![]() ![]() Hi I just purchased a Cisco ASA 5506-X, I am able to ping it and access it through the console CLI, but not with ASDM.
